Custom Builder of the Year Award

During the January General Membership Meeting at the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Grand Rapids, the prestigious award of Custom Builder of the Year for 2005 was presented to John Overbeck of Turning Leaf Homes Inc.

The Award is merited based on feedback of vendors and past customers. The feedback is scored in the qualities of trust, communication, loyalty, ethics and consideration. Other areas scored are in the involvement with the HBA, involvement in the Custom Builders Council, and involvement in the community. Finalists were also interviewed by the Scoring Committee. The award is sponsored by Williams Kitchen and Bath and The Custom Builders Council of the HBA.

Turning Leaf Homes, Inc. is based in Saranac, MI and owned and operated by John Overbeck.  With over 400 homes under his belt, John is no stranger to the rewarding challenges facing custom homebuilders in the West Michigan marketplace.  A couple of years ago, John also became only the third builder in the state to achieve his Graduate Master Builder Accredidation and the twenty first to become a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). Considering himself a student of the industry, John contributes his success to the basics.
